Q: What is "Bonaire Insider"?
A: "Bonaire Insider" is the name of Bonaire's best (and at present only) news blog (a "blog" is a "web log"). The editors of this site post summaries of news pertaining to Bonaire, and more specifically, tourism news, on a regular basis, as they receive it or come across it. Bonaire Insider is operated by Bonaire web & e-mail hosting company, NetTech N.V., and the news items are written by Susan Davis and Jake Richter at present. NetTech N.V. also operates the most popular Bonaire information site, InfoBonaire.

Q: What is Bonaire?
A: Bonaire is a small island (110 sq. miles) with a small population (circa 15,000) located in the southern Caribbean, about 50 miles north of Venezuela, and 30 miles east of the island of Curaçao. Bonaire is presently part of the Dutch Caribbean municipality of The Netherlands (Holland).

Q: How do I keep up to date with the latest Bonaire Insider news?
A: Good question! The easiest way is to fill in your e-mail address in the box at left ("Get Posts By E-Mail") and subscribe to e-mail feeds from Bonaire Insider. Once you confirm your free subscription to our mailing list, you will get an e-mail each time we post a news item here. The e-mail will contain the headline, a summary of the news item, and a link to see the whole article (some of which can be lengthy, which is why we don't e-mail the whole thing).

Also, as Bonaire Insider is a blog, you can use blog reader software, such as Thunderbird or on-line blog reading capabilities at GMail, Yahoo, HotMail, Bloglines, etc. Click on the "chicklet" graphic buttons at left to add the "Bonaire Insider" RSS feed to your favorite RSS/Blog reader or aggregator.

Finally, you can also see a live feed of the most recent stories from Bonaire Insider on the home page of Bonaire's best source of on-line information, InfoBonaire.

Q: Why are you doing this?
A: We've been getting too much sleep and are bored and figured it might be nice to start yet another project with an endless time investment and little reward...

We're joking!

Seriously, we track technology and we track Bonaire (since we live here), and saw that this was a perfect time to use the tools at hand and create a timely news source about everything and anything "Bonaire". Plus, we hope to make a little bit of money with advertising, so please support our sponsors. If you want to be a sponsor and pay us to get your business in front of people who are as obsessed with Bonaire as we are, drop us a note at news@bonaireinsider.com.

Q: What do all the links on the left side of this page do?
A: Lots of things. Best way to find out is to simply click on them. But, in short, they let you search the Bonaire Insider news entries, view posts based on date or category, and subscribe (in one way or another) to the news feed from our site.

Q: Where do you get your information from?
A: After many years of living on Bonaire and doing business with a large percentage of the tourism businesses on Bonaire, we are pretty well connected and hooked into tourism news. We also peruse a variety of news sources on a daily basis to see if we can find anything pertinent to Bonaire. You will see at the end of each of our news items a "Source" list with this information.

Q: Can I use your RSS feed on my web site to show the latest Bonaire news there?
A: You may source the Bonaire Insider feed from http://archives.bonaireinsider.com/index.xml (RSS 2.0) as long as you do not remove or mask any links in our description. If you have other uses in mind, feel free to contact us - we will at least listen, but cannot guarantee approval.

Q: How do I let you know about Bonaire-related tourism news?
A: If you a a Bonaire or Bonaire-related business which provides services or products of interest to Bonaire residents and tourists alike, please put news@bonaireinsider.com on your information distribution list. No tourism news is too small for us to consider. Note that we will not post news that is based on hearsay or rumor which we cannot confirm through other sources. We will also not post items which could be reasonably assumed to be damaging to a Bonaire business or person.

Q: Where do I got for more detailed information about Bonaire?
A: Well, other than here, we suggest InfoBonaire, BonaireTalk, and the Bonaire WebCams web sites.

Q: Can I become a Bonaire Insider editor/writer too?
A: We may add other editors to share in the glory and rewards of being a sleepless writer of news items (especially if they can help us figure out where the glory and rewards really are) at some point in the future, if the right person comes along. At present this is all volunteer work on our part, and the same would apply for any other editor/writer interested in "the job" of writing news items for Bonaire Insider.

If the above has not dissuaded you, then drop us a note at news@bonaireinsider.com. We will only consider people we personally know, and believe to be honorable and trustworthy.

Q: What if I have a question that's not asked/answered here?
A: Another excellent question! Drop us a note at news@bonaireinsider.com with your question, and if it is appropriate to answer here, we'll add it to this FAQ.
