Holiday Dining on Bonaire Shines This Year With a Variety of Options

Dining out is especially popular over the holidays, and Bonaire is no exception.  Many of island’s restaurants are offering special menus, and the Bonaire Insider has collected a sampling of different options.  Remember, Christmas Day, Boxing Day (December 26), and January 1st are all legal holidays on Bonaire, and some restaurants might not be open on all holidays, so if your favorite restaurant is not represented here, be sure to check availability.  Reservations are highly recommended for any holiday dining.

Unbelievable Restaurant features a special holiday buffet for groups of 15 or more with a variety of budgets.  For smaller groups, couples, or individuals, the à la carte menu will be available, too.  For reservations, phone 717-3000, or email info@unbelievablebonaire.com.  View the group holiday buffet menu by clicking here (in PDF format).

Hotel Restaurant Roomer will be open for dinner on Christmas Eve from 4:00 PM through 9:30 PM.  There will be a special Christmas Breakfast Buffet on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day for only $17.50 per person.  The buffet will begin at 7:30 AM and be available through 11:00 AM.  For reservations, phone 717-7488 or email info@roomerbonaire.com.

Norka’s Deli Cafe offers special Indonesian Rijsttafel (minimum two persons), including a small version, large version, or vegetarian version.  Norka does ask for one day’s notice for any Rijsttafel, so phone her at 717-4376 to make a reservation.

Sunset Bar & Grill offers a wide variety of menu options throughout the holidays, including a two-course dinner on Christmas Eve, a traditional Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day, Boxing Day Specials on the 26th, a three-course festive dinner on New Year’s Eve, and Happy New Years Creations on January 1st.  Their regular menu will also be available on all holidays except for New Year’s Eve.  For reservations, phone 788-2698.

Bonaire Oceanfront Villa Is Ready for 2010/2011 Season

Bonaire Oceanfront Villa 9 is pleased to announce that it has completed further renovations during 2010 and the property is now ready to accept divers and leisure vacationers during the upcoming high season in 2011.  Over the past three years, the villa has received a variety of improvements that can only enhance the experience that divers will have when vacationing at the property.

These renovations have been extensive, and include new features throughout the villa, including a new kitchen which has been completely redone and enlarged to twice its previous size.  There are all new appliances, including a full-sized refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and coffeemaker, as well as new windows and cabinetry.

Windows throughout the villa have been replaced, and the new louvered windows allow Bonaire’s trade winds to cool the interior, while providing a safe environment.  The interior has also been refurbished with new furniture in the living area and a cable TV/DVD player and WIFI access.  Three bathrooms have been totally renovated, while the other two have new tile and fixtures.  All bedrooms have new split-unit air-conditioning, which offers quiet functioning as compressors are outside.

The villa’s outdoor living spaces have all been upgraded:  The third-floor roof-top terrace has new terra cotta tile flooring, while the two bedroom balconies on the second floor have had roofs added to them, allowing all-day use regardless of the weather.  The backyard covered patio has been updated, including new teak furniture.  Lighting has been added to the seaside pavilion, so it can be enjoyed during evening hours.

The entire exterior of the villa has been freshly painted, and the parking area enlarged to accommodate up to three vehicles.

Those contemplating Bonaire Oceanfront Villa 9 for their next Bonaire vacation can visit the newly expanded web site located at www.bonaireoceanfrontvilla.com, which highlights new amenities for the property, as well as an amplified image gallery and an up-to-date availability calendar.

Throughout the site, visitors will find current images of the villa, showing exactly the conditions that those booking their next Bonaire vacation will find.  The image gallery, located at www.bonaireoceanfrontvilla.com/pictures.html, has been augmented with clear thumbnail images, which are clickable for enlarged images of the villa’s exterior, interior, and roof-top terraces.  Additionally, stunning sunsets of the Caribbean Sea offer a taste of what those staying at Bonaire Oceanfront Villa will experience.

The availability calendar can be viewed at www.bonaireoceanfrontvilla.com/calendar.html, and this provides an “at-a-glance” check of which dates are still available for upcoming travel plans.  Confirmation of your travel dates can be easily completed via an e-mail to the villa’s property manager at info@bonaireoceanfrontvilla.com.

Located at Hamlet #9, Bonaire Oceanfront Villa 9 offers the ease of diving from your own property, as the famous “Cliff” dive site is only 100 feet from the property’s beach.  The villa accommodates up to ten persons comfortably with five bedrooms and five baths.  Two diving facilities are within a short walk of the villa: Dive Friends Bonaire @ Hamlet to the north, and Captain Don’s Habitat to the south.  Bonaire Oceanfront Villa is one of Bonaire’s premier oceanfront properties offering villa-style vacationing; it offers affordable accommodations for any Bonaire visitor, but especially caters to those coming to the island to dive.  (Source:  Bonaire Oceanfront Villa)

A New “First” for Bonaire--Monthly Farmers’ Markets

On Saturday, December 18th, 2010, both residents and those visiting Bonaire can enjoy a new “first” for the island--the inaugural event of Farmers’ Markets!  Tina Woodley from Go Green Natural & Organic Shop is organizing the market from 8:00 AM through 12:00 PM.

This will be a great time for all those on Bonaire who are involved in agriculture to come together and display their wares and educate those with an interest in natural and/or organic products as to what is available here on Bonaire.  Tina hopes that the event will be received well, and that she can continue the markets on a monthly basis.  Current plans call for a second event on January 29, 2011. If the markets do indeed become popular, a schedule of farmers’ markets will be published for the rest of 2011.

The market on Saturday, December 18th will be held adjoining the Go Green store, located at Kaya Lib. Simon Bolivar 26 (in front of the Catholic Church in Kralendijk).  For more information, visit Go Green’s web site by clicking here or phone 717-2222. (Source:  Go Green Natural & Organic Shop)
