Ann Phelan, owner of Caribbean Wind & Sun, is pleased to offer two Mindfulness Retreats for the summer of 2015.  She has been trained in Mindfulness and is bringing her practice to her guests on the Dutch Caribbean island of Bonaire.

The two sessions this summer are July 25 through August 1 and August 1 through 8.  The focus will be on daily guided meditations at various locations in Bonaire.  Bonaire, best known as one of the Caribbean’s most pristine island, is the perfect setting for these events.  Ann welcomes you to find your center and immerse yourself deeper into your practice. The retreats provide a nurturing and gentle experience for both beginners and more experienced participants.  There will alternating periods of seated and walking meditations as well as 1-1 supported sessions to discuss your practice and expand on your personal goals.  Yoga and nature hikes will be incorporated into the retreat.  There will be healthy community meals as well as opportunities for independent dining. The level of your engagement will be individualized towards your personal goals. Each guest will have an initial phone consult and discussion and then an individualized program will be created.

The mind and body are best supported together. To enhance your experience, there will be Ayurvedic spa services offered as well as traditional spa offerings, including Bonaire Salt Scrubs and Hot Stone Massage. Reiki and Reflexology services are also available.

Accommodations include an oceanfront property where most of the retreat will be held and several budget minded accommodations within 4 miles of the meditation site.  Group discounts will apply to all accommodations.  There will be activities for those who wish to dive, horseback ride, stand up paddle, snorkel, windsurf, kayak or kitesurf. Bonaire is a nature lover’s destination. Come immerse yourself and become one with nature.  An a la carte retreat is available for those seeking a drop -in, free-flow experience, as well as a structured week. Prices depend on your individualized goals. Singles and couples welcome.  For more information email ann@bonairecaribbean.com.

Yoga Bonaire Announces New Services

Yoga Bonaire is the very popular provider of yoga practices on Bonaire, and they have recently announced a new structure to their services.  Desiree Seaver, a certified yoga instructor, now offers private or semi-private yoga or meditation sessions.

These yoga sessions are personalized in Yin/Restorative/Hatha Vinyasa Flow. Private Yoga is an invaluable tool for students of all levels and experience. Together with you, they can deepen your practice, connecting breath, body, mind and spirit, answer questions as well as create a home practice for you.

Another new service is hand-crafted mala beads with pieces of ocean treasures found on Bonaire’s shoreline.  Mala beads are commonly used during meditation sessions and usually are made up of 108 beads, used for keeping count while reciting, chanting, or mentally repeating a mantra.  Desiree makes each strand of beads with unique beads of wood, stone, or even seeds, coupled with true Bonairean gems.

For those who would like to try out yoga, this Sunday, February 8th, will present a unique opportunity, when Desiree, along with husband, Don, and son, Rik, will offer a family yoga session on the beach at Te Amo at 8:00 AM.  Those wishing to participate should bring their own yoga mat or large beach towel, drinks, or food.  All ages and stages are welcome!

Enjoy Special Events on Bonaire this Week!

There’s a variety of special events coming up this week for those lucky enough to be on Bonaire to enjoy them.  These events run the gamut from cultural and nature-oriented events, to just some good ol’ fun and fitness.

On November 20th and 21st, 2013 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, CIEE’s current roster of 14 students will each provide a short presentation on their work while on Bonaire.  Each student will present their work in the form of a 12-minute talk. On both nights, the event will be held at the CIEE Research Station (Kaya Gobernador N Debrot #26, Kralendijk).

On the morning of November 21st, 2013, from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM, STINAPA will celebrate their “Festival di Planta Palu” (or Festival of Tree Planting) at the entrance to Washington Park.  Students from local schools will plant 100 trees.  Come and celebrate with the local kids as they learn how important nature is to Bonaire.

It’s the time of year for Sanikolas to make another appearance, and he should be arriving on Saturday at about 3:00 PM in Wilhelmina Park.  Legend says he arrives by boat from Spain, where he checks to be sure if little girls and boys have been good or bad!  There will be a variety of activities in Wilhelmina Park, so be sure to stop by and enjoy the festivities.

Also on Saturday, November 23rd, the last Fun Race of 2013 will be held.  Meet at Te Amo Beach, across from the airport at 4:00 PM.  The Fun Race will be two laps of the race, while the Elite Race will be three laps.  Entry is $10.00 per person, and includes water, a sports drink, and fruit.

Finally, on Sunday, November 24th, 2013, CIEE will be hosting another Family Nature Fair.  The event will be hosted by their hard-working students and will take place between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM in Wilhelmina Park.  There will be fun games, activities, food, and a story hour with Captain Don! All activities are geared towards teaching kids about Bonaire’s environment, and what each person can do to help.

As one can see, the week is filled with activities.  Be sure to get out and enjoy at least one or two of these unique experiences.  (Source:  Bonaire Insider Reporter)
