The Bonaire Heineken Jazz Festival 2012 is coming--July 27 through 29, 2012

The eighth edition of the Bonaire Heineken Jazz Festival will take place this summer, moving from its traditional timing in late May to late July instead (July 27 through 29, 2012).  Here’s a preview of the exciting lineup!

The opening on Friday will focus on jazz and poetry. As before, this will take place in the intimate atmosphere of Fort Oranje. In recent years, this event was one of the most popular, and it is expected to be a sell out this year.

For the main program on Saturday night at Plaza Resort, there are three big shows in the pipeline. The evening will be opened by a (to be announced) band and vocalist from The Netherlands.  Then, Monty Alexander and Harlem-Kingston Jamaica Express will set the mood.  Those who attended the 2009 festival will remember Monty’s successful performance at that event, and he’s back by popular demand for this year’s event with a new program and band. To end the evening, Dominican bachata singer, Yoskar Sarante with be performing with his band together with Frank Reyes, Anthony Santos, and Joe Veras, known for the world-wide hit, La Noche.

Finally, on Sunday, a free concert will be given by the India-born, half Dutch, half-Zimbabwean, Rina Mushonga, vocalist and with band.  The schedule promises to be an exciting one, so be sure to make plans to enjoy some or all of the events. (Source:  Bonaire Jazz Foundation)
